Brisa Hennessy has officially qualified for the Olympics.
Brisa Hennessy, a local surfer from Matapalo, qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Before starting action at the Maui Pro, the last CT stop in Hawaii, Brisa was already qualified for the Olympic Games; however, her direct rival, New Zealander Paige Hared, had mathematical options to surpass her and needed to advance one series to eliminate any possibility.
Hennessy started the event by falling to the second round (elimination round), instances where she had to advance to the third round and with this enter an important space in the history of national surfing, where she would be placed as the first Costa Rican surfer to qualify for an edition of the Olympics.

The Costa Rican would fall in the elimination round, however, she would then depend directly on the actions of the New Zealander, who would be eliminated in the third round and thus qualify the Costa Rican for the Olympics.
