Cocles and Dominical Beaches Return to the National Surf Circuit in 2026

The Banco LAFISE 2026 National Surf Circuit features two venue changes compared to the last edition. The communities of Puerto Viejo and Dominical will once again host Costa Rica's top surfing championship, with 1500-point events.
As is tradition, the season will kick off in the Caribbean, and champions will be crowned five months later at Playa Hermosa, JacĂł. Athletes from 20 categories will participate, including shortboard, longboard, SUP surf, bodyboard, and adaptive surfing.
2026 is a year with ISA World Championships, Pan American Surfing Games (PASA Games), and Central American and Caribbean Games, so the CNS standings in each category will be very important for the formation of national pre-selections.
The CNS 2026 dates are as follows:
- Cocles, Talamanca | February 13, 14, and 15 (1500 points).
- Santa Teresa, CĂłbano | March 13, 14, and 15 (1500 points).
- Guiones, Nosara | May 8, 9, and 10 (1500 points).
- Dominical, Osa | June 12, 13, and 14 (1500 points).
- Playa Hermosa, JacĂł | July 10, 11, and 12 (2500 points).
At the end of the five dates, the best four results of each competitor will be considered for the general ranking.
“In Costa Rica, we have one of the highest-level surfing circuits in the Americas, thanks to the commitment of all athletes, parents, and sponsors who support our sport. For 2026, the goal is to conduct training camps for national pre-selection teams, in addition to creating a technical staff for national teams that works in conjunction with the various regional coaches. We also want to continue preparing our judges and developing new talent, to see more Costa Ricans in the best leagues in the world and national teams on the podium of world championships,” declared Roberto Vargas, president of the Costa Rican Surfing Federation.
The 20 participating categories are:
- Open (men's and women's).
- Under 18 (men's and women's).
- Under 16 (men's and women's).
- Under 14 (men's and women's).

- Adaptive surf (men's and women's).
