Costa Rica is in the top 10 and Carlos Muñoz is the eleventh best surfer in the World Championship

Adrenaline Rush presents the news of the day.

Teamwork: The key for Costa Rica to consolidate its tenth place in the team competition in Miyazaki.

Through significant teamwork, in addition to outstanding individual performances, Costa Rica has entered the top 10 nations and could even improve its position, but this will depend on the performance of countries in ninth and eighth place on the last day of the World Surfing Games with the largest number of participating nations in history.

A remarkable performance by the girls with Eva Woodland (240 pts), Leilani McGonagle (400 pts) and Brisa Hennessy (528 pts), added to the great work of the male branch given by Noe Mar McGonagle (144 pts), Jair Pérez (300 pts) and Carlos Muñoz (475 pts), means that our country adds a total of 2147 pts surpassing important nations such as France, Spain, among others and makes us dream for a World 2020 that will give places for the Americas.

Today would be of vital importance for Carlos “Cali” Muñoz's aspirations to advance as many rounds as possible from the repechage. Muñoz would show great surfing, however, the difficult conditions in Miyazaki, Japan meant that the national did not have the best luck and in round nine of the repechage the national would fall in his heat, thus saying goodbye to the commitment.

“I want to thank everyone who supported the Costa Rica team and especially God for giving me the opportunity to live this experience,” Carlos stated.

Our country's position in the standings could improve, but it will depend on today's results, which will be the last day of the World Cup.

Harold Sandi
