San Marcos University presents the news of the day.

Surfing will have its National Day and will be celebrated with events on every beach in the country.

This Wednesday, August 28th, in the afternoon, the declaration that would establish the practice of surfing as a discipline of national public interest, as well as a National Day for the sport of surfing, would be signed.

With this historic step, surfing confirms its importance to the country in economic, tourism and sporting matters, being a bill processed in an expeditious and conclusive manner.

The declaration would conclude so that every third Sunday of October would be celebrated as National Day.

" We are very happy with this declaration and trust that it will come to fruition. Declaring a National Surf Day will allow us to hold events on different beaches throughout the country to commemorate it. Regarding the declaration of public interest, this is very important, because while it's true that the bureaucratic processes involved in organizing events through public institutions can be a bit tedious, we trust that this will help us and that by fulfilling all the legal requirements, everything will be a little simpler. Furthermore, this declaration will provide us with new opportunities in various fields, including the possibility of generating employment in coastal areas through the National Learning Institute (INA) by creating surf instructors," stated Randall Chaves, president of the Costa Rican Surf Federation.

Surfing has brought countless joys to the country and is a sport with a great economic and tourist impact that, without a doubt, if the signing of the decree were to take place today, could bring us even more joys.
