The International Olympic Committee confirmed the decision on Tuesday.

This morning, the International Olympic Committee, in conjunction with members of the host country, announced its decision to postpone the games to 2021 due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach commented on the decision that was made to safeguard the health of the athletes and the spectacle at the Games.

Days ago, the postponement of the Games dates had been reported, with three scenarios including postponing the activities to 2021, which was the decision made at the meeting.


The specific date for the Tokyo Olympic Games has not yet been set, however, it will not be after the summer of 2021.
