¿Cómo vive Playa Jacó la cuarentena ante el coronavirus?

How is Playa Jacó experiencing quarantine due to the coronavirus?

Monster Energy Drink presents the note of the day.

Municipal lifeguards, municipal police, and public force have had to intervene to prevent infections.

Today the Ministry of Health reported that there are a total of 201 cases of COVID-19 in our country, and also released the list of cantons with affected people, among these cantons was added Garabito with two positive cases.

In Playa Jacó some businesses continue to operate, and despite the national emergency, people must go out into the streets daily to earn their daily living from tourism, which has almost completely disappeared.

Continuing with the series of articles on "How are some places experiencing quarantine in the face of the coronavirus?", this time we speak with the Head of Aquatic Rescue in Garabito, Marvin Pérez, who elaborates on the situation in the town of Garabito.

How have you seen the issue of quarantine in the canton of Garabito?

The guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health have not been followed; the authorities have had to intervene for people to begin to understand the seriousness of the matter. Because they are not complying, the statistics in the contagion table already show two cases, and there could be more.

What measures were taken for the beach?

The measures taken are good, the problem is the population's compliance with those measures.

How has your work been without people on the beach?

For the time being, I remain at my job in Playa Jacó, working normally and supervising to ensure that there are no people on the beach and, as much as possible, trying to ensure that this measure is followed on other beaches in the canton.

What would you say to the population to encourage them to comply with these measures and prevent COVID-19 infections?

It is of utmost importance for the population that everyone stay home and respect the quarantine. Although we are facing a difficult situation, the infection rates in our country are being controlled, but we cannot let our guard down. On the contrary, now is when we must be even more committed. None of this would be possible if we do not follow the rules. We are all absolutely responsible for preventing and reducing the spread of the virus; it is in our hands.
