San Marcos University presents the news of the day.
Brisa Hennessy remains in requalification positions and maintains her qualification for Tokyo 2020 after France.

This week the ninth stop of the World Surf Tour concluded in Hossegor, France, and results were presented that in one way or another benefited the aspirations of Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz to enter the WCT next year.

The circumstances that have created a better outlook for the Costa Rican player lie in the issue of the requalification of CT athletes who are competing in QS events.

Before France, Brazilians Deivid Silva and Yago Dora were the surfers who, if the tour were to end, would requalify without needing a QS spot, thus opening up those positions for new athletes. Now, after the events in France, Australian Jack Freestone has also temporarily requalified, climbing seven places to nineteenth in the CT rankings.

With two Dream Tour dates and three QS stops remaining, the Costa Rican's qualification options are promising. He would only need to repeat his performance from last year in the two Sunset competitions or reach the semifinals of one of the events, a situation that would almost guarantee the dream of seeing a Latin American on the World Tour.
In the women's field, Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy also tested positive after France and maintains her CT requalification and continues as qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Brisa will have to maintain her performance in the two remaining dates of the Tour if she wants to qualify, however, to qualify for Tokyo 2020 she could do so from the next event and become the first Latin American and Costa Rican surfer to be part of the games.

Upcoming QS dates for Carlos Muñoz:
- October 28 to November 10 - Sunset Beach, Hawaii. 3,000 pts.
- November 13-24 - Haleiwa, Hawaii. 10,000 pts.
- November 25 to December 7 - Sunset Beach, Hawaii. 10,000 pts.
Upcoming CT dates:
- From October 16 to 28 - Portugal.
- December 8-20 - Hawaii. (Women's: November 25-December 6).
