Authorities are urging citizens not to visit beaches during the national coronavirus outbreak.
As a preventative measure to counteract the effects of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of possible contagion, the mayor's office of the canton of Garabito, together with the Public Force, the Lifeguard Department, and other interested parties, have decided to close the beaches to visitors and residents of the area during this national emergency.
The canton currently has no confirmed cases of coronavirus; however, the measures were taken for the benefit of the community's inhabitants and due to the disregard shown by visitors who remained on the area's beaches despite the current situation in the country.
Free passage along the beaches will be maintained for an indefinite period of time.
