Lucas Madrid, the Uruguayan surfer, is calling for awareness after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
In an act of social responsibility and calling for awareness, Uruguayan surfer Lucas Madrid announced on his social media today, Thursday, that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Madrid, who visited our country several years ago to train with his brother Santiago Madrid, mentions in his public statement that he was continuing his physical training; however, he did not have direct contact with anyone infected, at least not that he knew of, but upon experiencing severe symptoms and fever, he underwent medical tests which came back positive.
“Please, let’s not be selfish, let’s think of others. If we have to leave home, let’s think twice. Let’s take care of each other. And I also have a request for surfers: I know it’s sometimes difficult when we have waves and we can’t go surfing, but let’s think twice about whether it’s really necessary and let’s not be selfish, let’s help each other, let’s support each other however we can, because together we’ll get through this,” the Uruguayan stated.
The current Latin American Surf Champion remains in total isolation and hopes all this will pass quickly so he can return to the water.
