Brisa Hennessy podría clasificarse a los Juegos Olímpicos Tokio 2020 en la próxima fecha del CT

Brisa Hennessy could qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the next CT event

Reef presents the news of the day.

The national surfer will face his direct rival again in the first round in the fight for a place in the Olympics.

After eight of the ten stops of the World Surfing Tour have been played and based on the qualification criteria for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, some qualifications have been defined for the first incorporation of the sport of surfing into an Olympics.

Among these are Jordy Smith, Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzbbons, Australian athletes who have already guaranteed their qualification after being categorized as mathematically unreachable in the CT ranking.

The attention of our country and all of Latin America is focused on the performance of Brisa Hennessy, who could catapult herself in the next date of the tour as the first surfer from the region to mathematically qualify for Tokyo 2020.

However, Hennessy is still in contention with the only surfer on the tour who could take her place in Japan, namely New Zealander Paige Hareb.

Hareb has 7,745 points less than the Costa Rican, a situation that puts Hennessy with a slight advantage with two world stops still to be contested.

Brisa, as in the previous round, will face the New Zealander in the first round, in a heat that will also include the Australian Sally Fitzbbons.

To achieve her long-awaited Olympic qualification, the Costa Rican athlete will have to reach the quarterfinals of the competition in Portugal to become mathematically unreachable and secure her presence in Tokyo.

If this is not the case, we will have to wait until the last date in Hawaii.

The penultimate CT stop will begin on October 16th in Portugal.
