Costa Rican surfer is among those qualified for Tokyo 2020 according to the latest report from the World Surf League.

There was much talk about the qualification of the national surfer Brisa Hennessy for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, whether the national by simply entering the CT tour would already be in the Olympics, then the news came that to opt for a place in Tokyo 2020 the national would have to enter among the eight qualifying places for the games.

Brisa started the year surprising everyone with her excellent level and despite being the tour's debutante, she achieved very positive results that consolidated her in ninth place in the tour.

Thanks to this position, the Costa Rican athlete's current CT ranking positions keep her as one of the athletes with one foot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

How does this qualification for Tokyo 2020 work, and what would leave the national team out?

Via CT, there are eight women's Olympic spots, with a maximum of two places per country. Based on this information and the current standings, the qualified athletes would be: Carissa Moore (USA), Lakey Peterson (USA), Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), Stephanie Gilmoore (AUS), Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA), Silvana Lima (BRA), Brisa Hennessy (CRI), and Johanne Defay (FRA).

However, not everything is defined and the national team still has four CT dates to play, with the only possibility of being left out of the games being being overtaken in the ranking at the end of this 2019 by the New Zealander Paige Hared who is currently in sixteenth position in the ranking.
