Bodyboarder Dulce Aguero reaches final in Pipeline, Hawaii

Bodyboarder Dulce Agüero took third place at the Hawaii Pipeline Bodyboarding Championship, one of the most important events worldwide for this sport.
The tournament brought together representatives from 20 countries and saw 31 athletes participate in the women's category. The representative from Boca Barranca, Puntarenas, stood out from the first round, winning her initial heat with a score of 8.67 points. This result led her to the quarterfinals, where she maintained her good performance to advance in second position (8.40 points).
In the third heat of the day, Agüero competed to qualify for the tournament final and needed to record her best wave to date, with a maneuver worth 6.17 units, which she then backed up with a 5.83 (total of 12.00 points), to secure her ticket to the final and thus ensure her presence on the podium.
In the final, the Costa Rican achieved her best wave in the championship (6.27), but she was unable to add enough on the backup wave, concluding in third position against great exponents of world bodyboarding.

Costa Rica's flag was also represented in the men's category by Yazdanny Castro, another of the country's top competitors. The local from Quepos demonstrated his skill in the first round, combining waves of 7.07 and 6.17 points (total of 13.24); however, he was eliminated from the tournament in the second round, finishing in third position by a minimal difference of 0.75 points.
