Sun Bum presents the news of the day.
The importance of protecting yourself from the sun's rays this summer.
Sunbathing is a common and frequent activity for vacationers during the summer season. Regardless of location—be it at the beach, in the mountains, or in the city—it's very important to be aware of the risks posed by the sun's rays.
The problems caused by the misuse of sunlight have a lasting impact on our bodies.
Without adequate protection, the result is usually a burn that causes unpleasant symptoms, such as burning, a feeling of heat and itching, in the best of cases.
However, the benefits that UV rays bring to humans are very great, and therefore here are 10 tips to sunbathe correctly.
- Avoid the sun at midday.
- Choosing the right sun protection factor.
-
Calculate the correct sun exposure time based on the sunscreen you use. (To find out how long the sunscreen will protect you, multiply your skin's natural protection time by the sunscreen's SPF. For example, very fair skin can be naturally protected for about 10 minutes, so with an SPF 15 sunscreen, the skin would be protected for 150 minutes. Everyone has a different natural protection time depending on their skin type, but generally, the time is between 10 and 30 minutes.)

- Use sufficient sun protection. ( As a general rule, an adult usually needs approximately 35 grams of sunscreen to fully cover the body, which is roughly equivalent to four tablespoons.)
- Protect yourself in advance. (Use sunscreen 20 to 30 minutes before sun exposure).
-
Protect yourself from the sun from the inside out. (Consume products that increase your skin's protective capacity, such as vitamin E, lycopene, beta-carotene, or polyphenols).

- Avoid using creams that are not well known on the market.
- Wear clothing that protects against the sun. (It usually has the protection factor marked in yellow or a prominent color, for example, factor 40UV).
- Wear sunglasses.
- Care after sun exposure. (If you have already been exposed to the sun and have taken the appropriate precautions, but sunburn still occurs, the following is recommended:)
- Apply soothing gels to the affected areas several times a day.
- If the pain is intense, you can take painkillers such as acetylsalicylic acid or paracetamol.
- It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids. Especially water and juices mixed with mineral water.
Apply special moisturizing creams that help heal the affected areas of the skin.
